Why does Nova Scotia send Boston a Christmas tree every year?
Within hours of the Halifax explosion on 6 December 1917, Boston dispatched a relief train of doctors, nurses, supplies, and money. Nova Scotia sent a thank-you tree in 1918. The official annual tree tradition began in 1971 and continues every November. Nova Scotia's Department of Natural Resources personally selects the tree each year.
